I have been associated with airtel for long and had been using the broadband for almost three years. I was quite satisfied with the service and has never faulted in making payments of rentals in time. However, since I had to travel overseas on Auguset 12th, I decided to terminate the connection, I visited the Kolkata Saltlake City Center ARC and made a written request there to terminate the connection on 7th August 2012, followed by three telephonic conversations(two on my landline and one on my then airtel mobile ). In all three communications I confirmed to terminate the connection and finally I was told that the connection would be terminated in 7working days and my last bill would be generated on 18th August, 2012.I left India on 12th August, and in good faith the organization, I made the payment of 18th August, 2012 bill in full.
I was utterly surprised when I was sent the bill for September month on 18th September. I was already out of India, so I contacted the customer care through email. I told them about the situation, gave my overseas phone number to contact me, they did contact me on that cell and raised a ticket even regarding this. I was told that it would be worked within 7 working days. NOTHING HAPPENED. They simply did not at all work on the request and they have sent me another bill on this 18th October, 2012. On contacting them, they said they can not reach me on my Indian Numbers(!!!!!!!) while I have already followed up with them and gave them my Singapore cell number. Now they have raised another ticket!
I am not sure what Airtel is upto, are they trying to loot customers this way and compensate their review drops ?
I have already taken the whole matter to the Nodal Officer, Kolkata circle of Airtel and I do hope he would take an action on it.
Just wanted to share the misery with other mouthshut folks.
