When I was looking for a broadband connection in Koramangala, I checked out and Airtel seemed to be a good option to go for.
I found an option to register online and pay 500/- for the connection to be installed and activated in a weeks time.
Paid the money and then kept waiting for over 10 days. Finally asked the Airtel team to cancel it and refund the advance paid.
At first there was no response, after several follow-ups, I was told that the money has been refunded and will reflect in my statement in 30 days.
When no refunds reflected for a long time, kept following up and no one from Airtel was able to produce any evidence / acknowledgement of having initiated / completed the refund.
On further follow-up, instead of airtel producing the proof of refunding, they started asking me to provide them with all my bank statements to show that it hasnt been credited!
Ive never heard a more ridiculous or audacious demand from any service provider so far.
So please be wary of making any advance payments to Airtel. It seems to be a well practiced con game relying on thé fact that most of us dont have the time to get into a legal tangle.
