Old Dial Up Connections seems like Bullet Trains

Bought Airtel Data Card almost a month back. My only thought behind buying an Airtel card was the customer support and the service they would provide. Disappointed with both. Could have went ahead and tried BSNL evdo or Tata Photon(though am not sure about this).

The one which I got is a Mircomax USB data card and cost me around 3K. Installation and set up is very easy as you dont need to install any software via a packaged CD. There is no CD in fact along with the product and all you need is to connect the USB to your laptop and the software if not previously installed will pop-up automatically and you need to run it. Done and now you are ready to access the web.

The real headache and test of your patience starts now. Web pages open at a snail’s pace. At times it feels like you need to wait for eternity for a page to open. By the time the page will have opened I would have switced on the TV and started watching some programme and after half an hour or so I would realise that "Oh I have clicked on some page to open" . I hardly get any speeds greater than 12-13 KBPS though the Airtel guys assured me of speeds around 50KBPS. The max speed I have got till date is around 20 KBPS and that too once during the dead of night which lasted for about 20 mins.

To top it all the connection goes off in between. This really annoys and irritates you. I have applied for bsnl broadband now and once I avail that I will make away this airtel crap which is good for nothing. Am pretty surprised and disappointed that an established teleco like Airtel is providing such a pathetic wireless net service.
