I bought Airtel DTH SD box 2 years ago and promptly installed the STB and I was a happy customer for few months till one day I decided to call their customer care once again to get new channels that is available on their new Satellite.


I was told the dish needs to be re-aligned to a different position as the new Satellite is in different orbital position. The engineer came home and did the changes and left. Thereafter I keep getting "NO Signal" screen very often and when I checked the Dish it was facing a wall which obviously was obstructing the signal reception.


I called the customer care and reported the issue and they said field engineer will visit me the next day at 3:00PM but no one visited me. I called the next day again and this time a new complaint was registered and still no one came. I registered 5 complaints in one week on the same issue and each time no one visited to fix the issue but the complaint was promptly marked closed. I spoke to their supervisor and again he raised another complaint which was never attended to but closed. This went on for about two months till I bought a TataSky box which solved all my issues?


Airtel DTH customer care is hopeless and dealing with them can be really frustrating. You will typically face following issues when calling their customer care:




  1. Call will take long time to connect




  2. Will need to call at least 2~3 times before the call can be connected




  3. Even though you choose English as a preferred language option the customer care only has Hindi speaking executives. Better learn Hindi if you don’t know already.




  4. Service executives have no idea why the field engineers did not visit and there is no information flowing back to them from the field.




  5. They cannot escalate on the field engineers.






Adding to this, currently Airtel is doing satellite migration and their field engineers are overloaded with calls and you may not get the support you need from them. Also after satellite migration you have to align your dish by few degrees because which may / or may not receive the signal if after alignment your dish points to a wall or some obstruction.
