I was fed up of our Cablewala and decided to switch to DTH 2 years back. Tata Sky and Dish TV were not on the comparison list because of their MEPG 2 technology which is quire old. So, I have to select between Airtel, Reliance Big TV, Videocon and Sun - all with MEPG 4 technology.
My parents have Big TV connection and very much aware of their problems, Sun is more south centric, Videocon was the new entrant hence no track record so it was only Airtel.
I checked the reviews on Mouthshut and most of the reviews were against their customer service. Meanwhile my friend installed Airtel dish at his residence and he seems to be very happy, so I kept my fingers crossed and got Airtel connection for myself.
Picture and sound quality is excellent, packages are good (whatever I required was available at much lesser amount than cablewala). More than two years I am having this connection with only one or two niggles! and at that time I experience the customer service of Airtel.
First when Airtel changed their satellite my few channels went black - so I complained to CC around 12 noon and got my dish realigned to new satellite on the same day around 3pm.
2-3 months later in rainy season a blow of strong wind changed the direction of my dish and my tv screen was complete black with no signals at around 4 pm. that day I could not registered my complaint because of my busy schedule. Next day I registered a complaint and got assurance that it will be rectified within 24 hrs. Next day their person came to my place but it was raining heavily and he couldnt go on the roof at it was dangerous so he has to go back without doing any work. I spoke to CC again and again got assurance that it will be rectified within 24hrs. I also registered my complaint through email - which is not answered till date! but received a call from Airtel Delhi office within half an hour of posting mail; to check what the problem is? One more call on the same night from Airtel Chennai office. On third day their technicians fixed the dish again and my problem was solved.
After it was solved 2 more calls from Airtel one from Delhi and one from Chennai just to check whether my problem was solved or not. 72 hours and five calls from their customer care just to check my complaint is solved or not - what else you expect from CC?
I am very much happy with their service. There is hardly any waiting for your call and executives are very polite and friendly. I always spoke to CC from Marathi language section and my sincere thanks to Kavita who helped me a lot in solving this problem.
