DTH market is heating up with new players like Sun Network, Video group etc entering this lucrative market. If we were to compare DTH and local cable network, local cable network is cheaper and has other advantages like single connection can be used for multiple telivision sets etc, yet DTH is catching up because of superior broadcast quality and high levle of service. Nowadays all DTH operators are using MPEG 4 compression and hence technologically all the players are at par. So what should decide customer loyalty is the customer care provided by these players and here I feel Dish TV and Tata Sky are way ahead of others, Airtel Digital TV being the worst. Even the market share figures reflect this fact.
I have had the fortune of handling Dish TV customer care(through a friend) and Tata Sky customer care and both of them really look to resolve your issues(which primarily arise during de-installation and subsequent re installation) and take prompt action and then we have Airtel digital tv at the other end of the spectrum. I had the misfortune of handling(I am still doing it coz my Rs 1000 is stuck up and is being eaten away slowly by them) Airtel customer care as well. Sample this, in case of Airtel, customer care is rude, they close your complaints without actually resolving it, they disconnect calls when you ask them to transfer to a senior personnel and finally when their senior personnel calls up after I put up a complaint on CORE website, he too lies blatantly.
I would sincerely urge all readers not to purchase Airtel Digital TV and get stuck up like me
