Airtel Digital TV - Most Pathetic Quality &Service

The Airtel Digital TV Quality, Transmission & Customer Service is pathetic.

Pain Point#1 Installation

I havent got this installed till 3 days from the date of purchase. They would sell it to you saying that the dish can be installed in any place be it in your balcony or on your terrace. But the installation engineer inspects and will say that the dish has to be installed only on terrace as it has to face South direction. See the plight if your builder says no to terrace installation.

Pain Point#2 Transmission & Quality

Then after that comes the problem with software download and we will see continuous issues. When we checked with  customer service about the huge delay when the channels are changed and the transmission suddenly goes off for every 20-25 seconds, they say that this problem is seen national wide and will be solved in a couple of days. I havent seen the local cable not working national wide for more than a day & if it happens I am sure it might become the Breaking News in all those hugry news channels

Also the pixelation especially for the South Indian channels on a 32" or 37" LCD TV is so bad with Airtel digital that you can hardly see the clear image of the face. I had the choice of comparing Airtel Digital TV with Tata Sky and local cable TV with a Hathway STB and found the order of preference is local cable TV with STB then Tata Sky and then Airtel Digital TV. Ask the customer support about what pixelation does Airtel Digital TV support, they would ask you back what pixelation mean;-)

Pain Point#3 Customer Service

The customer service is so bad that to talk to the agent it takes a minimum of 10 minutes and then the agent says that he doesnt have any contact of the technical service engineer to help me and can be sent to home for help only after 2 days of taking an appointment. This when compared to the local cable or Tata Sky service, their support is way below performance.

Overall I would say avoid it if you dont want to miss the wicket taken by Bhajji at the time of crisis or a perfect straight drive from Sachin because of the sudden transmission loss.

My 2 cents
