I have had Airtel digital TV since 2010, and few months back decided to move to HD. The ad said unlimited recording facility, free HD channels for 2 months. I immediately took the offer and recharged my box as advised by the Customer Care. However, as promised nobody turned up for installation for the next 5 days. After repeated calls, I had the installation in 7 days finally.
And after installation what I find is, the free HD channels are not there. Again, I had to fight with the Customer Care for HD access, which they added after another 3 days.
Now comes the worst part, the recording facility is there, but what can I record?, I can only record stuff that I’m watching, why the hell would I record something that I’m watching ? There is no option to record something simultaneously, whatever is on your screen can be recorded. Therefore the recording facility is of No use. Also, I thought if I record something on pen drive I can watch it on my computer, but that too is encrypted or in diff format. So no point in going for this box if you’re looking for recording, instead go for DVR.
Although the technology what airtel has got is better than Tata sky, Sky TV are the pioneer. So I would say, go for TATA sky. My reason for that is airtel website to access/modify your account or recharge is down most of the times.
