Useful info Airtel DTH HD Bangalore.

This is my review for Airtel Digital TV [HD], I hope my review helps u guys since I have read quite a few negative reviews here for airtel dth.


I submitted a query for Airtel DTH on airtel.in on 6th March 2011 and the following day I got a call from airtel sales Mumbai from some Mr Hari and I made a purchase through IVRS as he told that doing so will speed up the activities as compared to online payment. I ordered for the offer Rs 3090 Mega Pack @Rs290/month 169 channels + 2 Interactive services with Rs.250 cashback+ airtel digital TV [HD] Box and 1 regional pack free for life. I cleared everything and made the payment and told the person that I want to go with FREE Bengali pack. He said the installation will be done in 24-48 hrs, I asked if something goes wrong can I call you, he said yes you call 12148 and ask for Hari.


Next day I got 3 calls from Airtel for my earlier query for a new connection asking me if I want to book a new connection and I thought no one following up my payment and they want me to take another connection.


That day I checked some of the MouthShut_Official reviews and got very disheartened. after 36 hrs I did not get any response from Airtel side so I called 12148 and asked for Hari.I calld 4 times but evrytime some1 will tell that Hari is not available & he’ll call me back, but no one did so I requested an executive to please follow up my case.Thankfully that night I got 2 sms in my mobile regarding my customtakeouter ID and my recharges.I created a login ID @ airtel.in using the Cust ID and checked my acc balance to be Rs.108.45.


The next day morning I got a call from airtel technician regarding installation and he came in time and did the installation properly. One thing is I was not able to see if the box was sealed properly and I had no idea regarding the view card that was inserted in the STB.he asked 50 Rs for extra cable that was used and I paid accordingly.Although I think I was more his chai paani fees and I doubt it reached airtel.


My account was activated same time but I checked that my FREE Bengali pack was not subscribed for me.So I calld cust care and asked, 2 executives wer not that supportive and one disconnected the call and another was less knowledgeable to help me out.he kept me asking for info I did not know. Finally the 3rd executive was able to solve my problem and after listening to my woes he activated the FREE Bengali pack.Thankful to him.


My account balance was showing as Rs.108.45 but since I was supposed to get a cashback of Rs250 I once again calld the Cust care the next day for the cashback, twice but of no use.then I send a mail to digitalTV@airtel.in with my cust ID as subject and also to grievance addressable on airtel.in and I got my cashback the next day.SOme one even calld me from Delhi to confirm if my problem was solved.


It was a long review but I suppose my time spent helps some one who is willing to buy an Airtel digital TV.


Go for it guys, but you have to follow it up regularly if you want to get the service you wanted and was promised to you. I was told that there is no problem in Bangalore and Chennai for a new connection by the cust care executive and I can 2nd that.I don’t know about outskirts.


One more thing is I did not find any difference between a Normal STB and an HD STB as far as picture and sound quality and clarity is concerned. So My advuce qould be go for a normal STB,
