I have been using Airtel DTH for last 3 years or so. When they launched the DTH services in India, it was very promising. There were some of the features which were ahead of the competition. Considering that aggression, I thought of opting for it. And yeah, it was advertised(nothing in writing) that very soon customers will get voice and data through the same dish.
Its been 3 years now but instead of going ahead in technology, Airtel has downgraded its DTH.
Still being optimistic, I upgraded my STB to HD when it was launched. Not to mention, it was highest priced against its customer.
Since last 4 months, Ive been paying close to INR 600 per month for watching only 3 channels in HD! Whereas there are service providers who are offering more than 30 channels in HD.
Most irritating part of the deal. When you set up your account in their customer care, whatever language you choose, your call will land-up to a bihari/Awadhi or Maithili spoken chap. When he doesn;t understand you, hell start saying. "Aapka Awaz Nahin Na Aata Hai, Is Liye Hum Kaal Ko disconnect Karta Hoon. Airtel Me Kaal Karne Ke Liye Dhanyawaad!" . Bloody jokers!
Because of similar issue Ive decided to opt out from mobility(cell phone). Luckily there was MNP to save me from there lousy service.
Hope therell be some kind of portability comes in DTH too. Airtel will have to find some other business than.
