Read it to believe Airtel still rocks

(Revised Mail)

Hi to all,

I visited this site & get good information. However it failed to provide proper information regarding Airtel. Therefore I take an initiative to tell you all my experience with Airtel.

I am using Airtel (in Delhi) since more than two and half years. For first two years, I used prepaid and was haunted by the charges they take when I was in roaming. However, I didn’t miss a call with Airtel.

However, I recently switched to postpaid for last 4-5 months and I am a happy customer now. So loyal that I can’t hear their complaints. Here is the reason why:

  1. I chose Airtel Celebration 298 plan initially where I am charged Rs. 0.50 per minute for all local calls in NCR (nearby areas)

  2. Then I switched to "New India Home 299 Plan". I pay minimum Rs. 299 monthly (excl. taxes) and I avail the following facilities:-

(a) Easy conversion from Airtel Pre-paid to post paid (Rs. 250//- is charged)

(b) No clip charges of Rs. 50 per month (as charged in many plans by all)

(c) No security has to be deposited for STD facility

(d) I have deposited no security for roaming facility. Although they ask for 1500, but with little argue & bargain, you will get waived.

(e) The tariff is really cool. You pay Re. 1/ minute for all the facilities:

  • Local Calls from home network

  • STD from home network

  • SMS to anywhere in India

Other than that, if you use the phone on a Airtel network in roaming, you get the following at Re. 1 per minute (instead of atleast Rs. 3.50-4.00 as charged by all):

  • All calls you receive in roaming

  • All calls (including STD) you make in roaming

  • All SMS you make in roaming

Also note:

  1. I had certain issues with Airtel, they gave me talktime worth Rs. 150/- for free for their mistake.

  2. I get itemwise billing online for all calls I make on Airtel website.

  3. I can convert the plan from "India Home" to "Airtel Celebration" as per my convenience and usage of STD/roaming or local calls for any particular month (change takes place same day after midnight)

  4. I use 121 facility from roaming toll free

  5. If Airtel fails to change billing plan as requested, credit is given for all subsequent calls made at higher tariff (difference of new and old tariff)

  6. Feel free to negotiate at any mistake done by Airtel, they not only reverse their mistake but also can award complementary talktime.

  7. Lastly, we all agree that their network is the best

Please note that all this is true and I am not paid by Airtel for giving this write-up. Only you can reduce you bill by choosing the right plan. By the was, please note that for one India plan, Reliance is charging Rs. 500-600.

So, listen to me and go for "New India Home 299 Plan". It rocks.

Airtel Landline (new addition to the review)

You should be aware about the landline services provided by Airtel.

It is costly as the local calls on mobile are Re 1.20 for 45 sec. Also, STD is costly. So, it is not worth it.

However I am still using it. Wanna Know why? Here are the reasons:

  1. I am using 499 plan where I get Broadband & Telephony services.

  2. Broadband tarrif is cool.

  3. It is Rs. 24 per hour during day with very good speed.

  4. However from 10.30 PM to 6.30 AM, it is Rs. 6.60 per hour

  5. No restriction on the quantity (MB) of data that can be downloaded

  6. I am given free calls of Rs. 495 per month by paying Rs. 499. These calls can be used to talk ot use Internet.

  7. So you will realise that Airtel landline is very cool if you have to use lots of internet and make lesser calls.

  8. Also, you get 5% discount if you have both landline and mobile connection of Airtel. Also cals get cheeper within both nos. (Airtel Mega Combo Plan)

  9. If you use Internet a lot, get it for Rs. 599 pm (unlimited usage)

  10. Also, combine landline & postpaid bills and pay a rental of Rs. 399 (instead of 299 on postpaid and Rs. 299 approx. of landline). All calls on mobile & Landline to cost Re. 1 (like New India Home Plan). Local calls form landline to be Re. 1 for 3 minutes.

So, what do you say, we should do good planning or curse current plan we are using. Looking forward to your comments/ ratings.

Please do not tell Airtel that I told you ALL my secret(s).
