Switching plans on Airtel - a laborious process!

My first review here on MS.:-)

I was asked for a really small favor.to walk down to the Airtel Counter and payup the outstanding bill amount on my husband’s post-paid connection. But Airtel ensured that the association not be terminated with just that. It turned out to be a near-sour long-winding experience.

Day 1 - I walked down, inquired with the staff and paid up whatever was outstanding.

Day 4 - I get a call from Airtel informing me that the request to switch plans has been turned down. reason - NONE!

Day 5 - I get another call confirming the pay-up.

Day 7 - I get another call asking me to please make another round of pay-up as the system for some reason rejected the earlier request. So again I make another trip to the Airtel Counter and made the payment.

Day 10 - I walk down to inquire if the switch has happened and was told that there was no request. My temper ran haywire and with the caustic wit I am blessed with managed to make them squirm in their seats.

Day 11 - A lady there who was trying to do some justice to the thing called LOGIC figured out that the Customer Service Rep was unaware of the PROCESS and was putting in my requests to a system that DID NOT PROCESS such requests. She took it upon herself to ensure that a new request was entered. I managed to eke out an email confirmation on the same. True to her word and my opinion of her sense of customer service the request was finally raised and closed.

I wonder, when here in our jobs, 1 unhappy customer is good reason for our managers to taunt us and ensure that the meager(now non-existant) hike gets a dent.so when it is our turn to be customers why is it that our happiness is never a factor?
