Prepaid is always better than Postpaid with Airtel

I was an Airtel Karnataka customer since 2004. I had taken a corporate connection.

Since I was from a different state, the large chunk of my calls were STDs, so I took up the one india plan in 2006.The monthly rental as 399 + national roaming + CLIP + taxes all came upto Rs.550+.

I used to pay a bill of 1, 200 on an average. I had given a ECS to them. The trouble started when I to travel out of the country for a period of three months.

I had to visit their branch to drop a request for a safe custody, which is Rs.99 per month, which I had to pay upfront. After that they promised to turn it off. I left the country, after one month I recieved an email about the bill, I wrote to customer service that I had availed the safe custody, had not been on the full billing cycle and they had to give me a partial billing for the period alone, which they did’nt respond well.

I told them that atleast the next period they should not deduct the money, inspite of saying so. They deducted the money, I started screaming and asked the close the account.

The worse was I was not able to stop the ECS, as that requires me a written consent to be present to the bank with my physical presence.

On the whole I lost some 1000+ in this way.

Pls never sign up for ECS with Airtel, or better get a prepaid connection.

Regards

Shyam
