Beware of Airtel

I have been using Airtel Broadband for last 1.5 yrs.


Initially I shocked to know that the speed they advertise is just a fake "value" actually you will get 1/10th of the boasted speed. Since, I took under 512 Kbps, it was manageable and there was no issue related to connection. I don’t use internet too much, so I didn’t go for unlimited plan. First 6 months, it went fine but, thereafter, I used to be shock to see the usage. Whenever, I asked the customer care regarding this, they always justified the bills. Moreover, I didn’t have anything to proove them wrong.


4 months back, when I was out of station almost for 3 weeks, that time again, I got overcharged bill. This time, all my usage was adjusted for the first week itself. Then I told customer care to disconnect my net connection and verify the net usage. I told that I will pay the bill once Airtel has verified that the usage was by me only.   After 4-5 days, I got call from bill collection team, that somebody is coming for collection, whom I stopped as it was pending for verification. Same happened for 2-3 times within 15 days and I kept refusing to pay.


2 Months back, I recieved one letter from Airtel that they may take legal action, in case I don’t pay the bill within 7 days. There was one phone number to cross check with Airtel Bill Collection Department or whomever. When I call at that number to check this drama, it was automated system, where I recorded my concern. But there was no reply from Airtel for next one month.


2 weeks back, I recieved one letter from LokAdalat, to pay the overcharged bill along with 500/- penalty. I consulted my legal advisor, who suggested me not to settle the case so easily. Now I’m in mood to file case against Bharti Airtel to teach them lesson for this kind of humiliation. Most surprising incident, I should mention that, now when I asked the Airtel Customer Care about my complaint which I raised 4 months back, they are saying there is no such complaint raised from me.


I would like to suggest you, not to get afraid due to this kind of act by Airtel and move to consumer forum and media if you are suffering. After all, they exist because of us. !
