Aritel Customer Support sucks

I have been using Airtel prepaid connection for almost 14 months. No, don’t get me wrong, I am not very happy with the service, I am bound to the number which I have shared with my international and national clients and relations.

Why do I use prepaid, simple fact, I am at my office or at my home during the week days and I can be very easily contacted at either place. Even when out, I hardly need to make that many call and mostly my usage is incoming. This makes it a perfect case study to go for prepaid connection.

Like many customer, Airtel charged me 50 bucks on 31st August stating that they have upgraded me to a better plan where I’ll save money if I call airtel to airtel. I have come across many friends and colleagues who were as shocked as I am with this activity. Here is what airtel has to say:

Airtel forwarded a sms stating that if we don’t respond to the sms it is assumed that we are willing to upgrade to the new plan at a cost of 50 bucks. Now the question is did every body receive the SMS. Airtel’s response, ’’Sir, we forwarded the sms to all our prepaid customer. However, if you were in roaming, we don’t guarantee the receipt of the same’’. On me responding that I haven’t received such SMS, ’’Sir, we can’t reverse the charge. But see the amount of benefit we are offering’’.

This is not an isolated incident. When you ask the customer rep to speak to the superior, 95% of the time the superior is busy or is not willing to take the phone.

I would request people to reconsider buying Airtel.
