As trustworthy as a streetside pickpocket

Airtel is at it again.


I have been charged Re.1 once every 3 days for an "Easy search" application which I never requested for activation. I called up the customer complaints number 198 and asked for it to be deactivated. The customer care person agreed to do so and in addition asked if I was interested in a broadband data pack, to which I told that I was not interested in it. A few days later, it turns out that the broadband pack has been activated even though I explicitly told them not to do it and in addition, the easy search pack was never deactivated.


Today, I recharged with Rs 201. A short while later, I got a call and when I picked it up, it was an automated message thanking me for subscribing to broadband services. which I never requested for in the first place. I tried to reach the customer care and my call was disconnected with a message that all executives are busy.


I guess it is pointless to scream and take out anger on some hapless customer care executive on the other end of the phone when the service provider is rotten at all levels. I wish good luck to Airtel, which has enjoyed my patronage for the past 10 years. I hope you enjoy the money stolen from me while it lasts, since I will be switching to a different provider soon and moving all my family members to it as well.


I am amazed that a company which picks customers pockets on the sly, can be rated as the best service provider in India.
