Airtel GSM and GPRS (Pune, Maharashtra)

Ok Airtel sucks completely... They have immense amount of congestion on the network. I had a prepaid which was becoming to costly and I got a postpaid because I wanted cheap calling. Billing is fine till now but I am waiting for something to go wrong there. The congestion is such that I have to dial a mobile number at least 12 times to get through without exaggeration. Also they have a problem when you call a landline.

I heard this from someone that Airtel enjoys the smallest port with BSNL as compared to other subscribers. And trust me Calling a landline is not possible from this damn cell. I am even sick of my new Nokia Handset because of this, even though he isn’t at fault.

And Yes the GPRS...It has worked twice in the last month. The speeds are too low to even check mails. They have disabled downloading as it gives an error message when you want to download a file from the internet onto the PC. Anyways how can one start downloading if you get a speed of 0.4k/sec.

Its not possible to even browse. I called the call center also everyday but these kids are just sitting there to talk nicely. They dont know a thing. The call even got escalated to an advanced engineer and guess what he could have told me ’’Sir I am not sure if GPRS works with Windows XP. I will have to ask but we recommend Windows 2000’’ I banged the phone there.

Airtel people - If GPRS aint working with Windows XP, go open a hardware store in Kanpur. I guess then u guys might learn about Windows XP. Till this day, my GPRS hasnt worked and nobody has bothered to call me even after repeated calls to there lousy call center. I have used reliance both as a cell and for Internet. I used a Samsung Color SCH A 563 handset with a 233kbps modem. What awesome connectivity it has. I used to download at 16k/sec. Download files as big as 40Mb without thinking twice.

Amazing voice clarity and quick connectivity. My dad is using it now. I think nothing beats reaince as far as Telecom and Internet is concerned. Just dont want to buy it again cause I dont want to use the same handset for a long time which has to be done in Reliance and Tata Indicom. Otherwise CDMA rules the internet.

And yes my suggestion, dont ever buy Airtel...If anybody wants simcards, my friends have a heap of them to be given away...
