Airtel Karnataka Service is pathetic. In the last 6 months I had several problems which were not solved. I called up the Cust Care several times and even emailed a complaint. No action were taken.
My first problem was that my Hello Tunes were not getting de-activated. I wasted almost 40 Rs talktime (by calling VAS number 678 @ Re 6 per min) trying to deactivate it.... no success and finally I had to use it for another month, bcoz it was automaticaly renewed (another Rs 30 down the drain). The Customer Care executives have no training and most of the time they dont know what they speak. One guy actually suggested me to press a digit for 10 long seconds in order to get my Hello tunes de-activated.
Then I downloaded a cricket scroller from the WAP site (airtel Live) which was supposed to give by real time cricket scores. It never did. All it said was please try again laer. I was charged Rs 50 for that... and now they are refusing to refund it an my face without any logical reason (Sir, we cant do anything about that is what they say.) I talked to the supervisor also without success.
Another stupid service Airtel gives is the pre-activated International Roaming, which cannot be de-activated. This means that if you do not want roaming services, you cannot even switch on your cell to click photos or to browse the phone book for a number if you are out of india. Bcoz in that case, intl roaming will get activated. I went to singapore, and before going, had to manually copy ph numbers in a piece of paper. I could not even use my camera phone to take snaps. further, on intl roaming they charge you Rs 20 for INCOMING messages!!! (thats what a custcare executive told me, and another did not agree... dont know whom to believe...)
how silly can this get??/
I have just about to clear my MBA, and at this junction cant afford to change my number, as many placement agencies and corporates have my number. This is the only reason I am still stuck up with this Airtels pathetic service.
