Never change your post paid to prepaid

I was a corporate customer for a long time ( 5 years and more) with airtel. I got the mobile transfered as a personal post paid number since I was moving to a different country.( Airtel said it cannot be moved to prepaid straight away).I have a paper mail from airtel that the address proof is fine and indicating my details of the tariff plan.

I then requested to move this connection to prepaid from postpaid. This was important to me because the number was critical since the transactions of my bank were related to it.

I filled up the form and provided one more set of proof and the conversion happened. I charged the number with Rs.499/-. Everything was ok and I moved to Netherlands.

My problem starts from here.

The number was disabled and then the answer I got was I have not given any proof :(. Then I was back in India, on 23rd July, and I submitted the proof once again at Koramangala Airtel in Bangalore. The person who took my papers was Karthik C. He said it would be up in 2 days. When I tried after 2 days with the airtel calling 98450 98450 they said they do not have it.

When I asked my father in law to go the airtel and check again, they say that the number is released and this account is closed since there is no money in the account. I still have 483 rupees. The service assistant was rude and careless to him. I am in a soup because from here I do not know how to change the number which is given at various places.

Airtel is a complete let down to me from being a loyal customer for over a decade. I am completely disappointed. I only wish somebody from Airtel who can take decisions understand this problem.
