I am a prepaid mobile customer of Airtel. In the past I have lost so much money unnecessarily with their interactive message services.
Today, this happened again. Press *121# and you get the main menu. Press.4 to start a service. I pressed it because I wanted to go for "Start DND". Then press 1 to go back to main menu. And they will start an unwanted service without informing you what service it is all about, and without providing an option to confirm the starting of service. In my case, they started the Astrological Service and cut Rs.20/-. I phoned immediately to discontinue the unwanted service. The service was quickly discontinued but I lost Rs.20 for nothing. In the past, they had cut Rs.30 saying that I had downloaded some audio which I had never done. Contacting customer care is as useless as trying to draw water from a dry well.
What surprises me the most is that the there is no governing body (if there is one, it is as good as non-existing) in our nation which will keep an eye on such malpractices which are carried out so openly. The name Airtel means a gang of looters! My sincere advice to the potential customers is that restrict yourself to making and receiving calls/sms only. Do not be tempted to subscribe to their luring offers of services, caller tunes, Airtel Live, etc.!
