I am having a corporate connection with Airtel. Its just my luck that I am stuck with Airtel and cant use any other service provider due to Company policy. I have used Reliance, Tata and even used Vodafone for brief period of time. Airtel is the worst of all of them.
Dont want to repeat all the crap about call dropping, poor signal in some part of navi Mumbai, extremely poor GPRS service, very often SMS doesnt reach the person (yes that happened to me so many times) and finally no connection for long time. I am having enterprise blackberry connection with this number. Blackberry is supposed to be a premier service than other regular service.
But this is airtel, expect the unexpected. The weirdest problem I am facing is They can not provide STD and ISD roaming facilty both at the same time. Sound silly, right? But its true. That too not all blackberry owners of my department, just few unlucky like us.
I have to travel overseas 2-3 times a year. Everytime before travelling I have to to write them, cc to our HR dept. about activation of ISD roaming. After returning back, I have to again write them for activating STD roaming facility. Only reason, they can not both work at the same time.
This is the silliest argument I ever heard.
When I tried to tell them that there is no such problem with my other colleagues, they just didnt believe and didnt seem to care. They didnt even realised that there was such issue at the first place. I already had ISD roaming facility activated when I switched to blackberry from normal phone. I went to my native place, and phone just became dead while crossing the state. Forget blackberry service, I couldnt make phone calls nor even SMS. I went to local customer care ( shop ). Their answer, They could not help you in anyway because it was not their state number. I couldnt not even call customer care because there was not outgoing..
I was without phone for 3 days.
After coming back I fought back a lot and finally they came up with this, that both ISD and STD roaming facility can not work at the same time. So everytime I travel abroad, or have to go through all this. Despite repetitive calls and emails, the situation is same. I can not even take up this issue with my company people, since very few people are facing such problem ( and overseas travel is also not that frequent. I have finally gave up and now act like a moron to send email to them everytime I travel.
But again this is airtel, last time even after personally calling them and sending them written email, they didnt activate my ISD roaming facility timely and I had to suffer without phone for 1 day @ out of India.
Thanks / Regards
