Don't use Airtel

I bought a postpaid plan for my family with a rental of around 11, 80.00 INR. Things were going well for some months, then Airtel changed the rental of my plan from 1180 INR to approximately 1599 INR without my consent. When I got the bill, I was shocked and went to the Airtel store. They simply said the rental has changed and now you have to pay this amount only.

I said I didn’t want to continue with you guys, so please stop the plan. I will port my number to another service. They said you can do it on your own with the Airtel app and all, but I did not have that much time and kept the connection on for another 5 or 6 months. Then I went to Airtel on March 4, 2023, and said, "Please take the bill as per Pro Data and let me port my SIM to another service.

They checked the pending amount and said your pending amount is 3, 000+. I asked why my rental is around 1599 and why you asked for 3, 000+ on a pro-data basis. They said, "We don’t know why it is showing this much of an amount and asked me to come on March 6, 2023; by that time the bill will get generated and we will get clarity on the bill. I went on March 6, and they said the bill would generate by EOD, so come on the 7th or call us, and we will let you know the status.

I called again on the 7th and was told that the bill had not been generated and that I should contact 121 customer care(the Airtel store failed to assist me despite multiple follow-ups).

Then I called 121 on the 7th of March and gave all the details and said my bill is not generated, please help the advisor transfer my call to her supervisor; she was also not able to see my bill details and asked for 3–4 days to resolve the issue and generate the bill. I said ok, and I was ready to pay the bill for next month as well as per pro-data basis, but they closed my ticket after resolving the issue, and I got an SMS for that. When I replied to the SMS, I got a message that it would be charged(I think I have an unlimited call and SMS sim, and I am being charged for sending SMS to Airtel).

After that also, I did not get any call or anything from Airtel. I called them again on March 11th, asking if the issue had been resolved. They said this was a system issue from their side, and a bill was not generated. I asked them why I should pay for your system issue as I came on March 4th to pay my bill and clear out the pending amount. They said it was our system’s issue, but you needed to pay for it. I spoke to the supervisor and then the senior supervisor and said I would not pay for this month as it was your system’s issue. They said okay and asked me to wait until March 14th, 2023.

Then, on March 13th, I received a call saying that if you want to pay your bill and port your SIM, you can do so now; I asked how much it was, and he said 3, 100+. Again, things started from day 1 and he said the addition charged for Amazon Prime. I said I was not using Amazon Prime. He said no, you are using it. I asked how the processor knew that I was not using Amazon. He checked and said no, you are not using Amazon. He said he would get back to me. As I disconnected the call, I saw another SMS saying your ticket is closed and to respond it. It charged me again for SMS.

It is now March 15th, but the problem has not been resolved, and there has been no update from Airtel.
