I went inside, almost empty theatres, and then the movie started. First half hour I was just scratching my head, did I wasted my money, but then suddenly I started getting the feeling of the movie, and I watched it like I watched Imran Khan starrer JTYJN. Well, Aisha is certainly not touching that mark, but yes its watchable. In starting half hour, you feel like, Anil Kapoor (the producer ofcourse) certainly wants that you watch her daughter perform, he has given the money yaar!, but then you realizes, the movie’s name is Aisha, and Aisha is Sonam Kapoor’s name, and her character is so self-centered, that it is required, that most of the shots start and end at her. So, here’s a new fresh drama-cum-comedy (not like laughing HAHA kind of stuff!) from Rajshree Ojha (the director). Well I don’t know her/him before!.
Plot is about a self-centered girl, named Aisha, who is just looking for toys, to play with, and those toys are womens, real persons, just because she thoughts that she is simply awesome at match-making. So, came a girl in between, called Shefali (Amrita Puri), her new project. She liked a middle-class boy named Saurabh Lamba (Anand Tiwari), but Aisha didn’t liked Shefali’s middle-class mentality, ofcourse she herself is upper-class genious. So, she tries her to hook up with dumbo-looking Randhir Gambhir (Cyrus Sahukar), and who in turn loves her. But it was a failed attempt at the Hrishikesh camp, and then she finds another childhood friend named Dhruv (Arunodaya Singh), and again tries to hook Shefali with him, but he is also different and didn’t liked this behanji Shefali. And in the chaos, there are some more people to count, main one is our own Mr. Investment Banker Arjun (Abhay Deol), who is also a childhood friend of her, but knows what is right and what is wrong, and tries to save Shefali from self-centered Aisha. And there is a best friend also, named Pinky (Ira Dubey), who got attracted towards Randhir, although she hates him. In the end, hero gets heroine, overcoming all obstacles, and misunderstandings. But hey, these misunderstandings are not like Ekta Kapoor’s serials type, its taken very lightly, and which is why you started loving this movie (no rona dhona and stuff!).
First of all, since I am a fan of Abhay Deol, let me say, that although he was not the central character, but man, he’s a champ, whatever you throw at him, he is just so comfortable in any kind of roles, and here he is looking hot (Girls! watch him). Sonam is improving, although still need improvement. Cyrus, you seems to be so perfected in dumbo-style of acting, you’re a dumbo-king. Arunodaya is a body-builder kind of guy, and impresses you alongwith Amrita, Anand and Ira. Amrita looks over-acted in some scenes. After acting, the next important part is the music and songs. Amit Tiwari is on a roll, and is on the way to become next A.R.Rehman. he has given such a wonderful, and soothing tunes, you’ll feel the magic and the desire to get lost in them. Songs are perfectly placed, the best composition being "Gal Mithi Mithi", "Behke Behke" and "Sham". "Gal mithi mithi" have beats while "Sham" is so slow, and evening kind of song, that you just start loving it. "Behke Behke" have the touch of old music, I was thinking to join the dance. Other songs included, "Aisha", "Lehrein", and "By the way". Dialogues (Ritu Bhatia, Manu Rishi) are so simple and fitted perfectly to the lighter mood of the film. I didn’t remeber exactly that nice dialogue, but it sounds something like, "Is pollution mein agar ek taara bhi dikh jaaye to wo hi sabse badi baat hai", its not exact, but marvellous, conveying such a deep meaning in such a simple words. Sreekar Prasad has done the editing well. Sometimes, you feel like just because of the producer, Sonam’s shot are getting elongated, otherwise, the cinematography by Diego Rodrigues is nice, and the Hrishikesh camp scenery was well shot.
Based on Jane Austen’s novel "Emma", the movie is certainly one-time watch. Just relax a bit, and leave all your tensions, and go and see for yourself. Its not for the masses, but hey, young couples, and friends, and gangs, and even married ones, try once, its not JTYJN, but its certainly like JTYJN. It’s about match making, but hey, please don’t try it, we’re automatically paired.
