A good home theatre from AKAI

Well, I apologize for taking liberty, this review is about the akai home theatre...which is a good accessory for the Akai 21W9 TV.

Home Theatre which spells Value for Money:

I had been thinking for quite sometime about buying a home theatre for my small living room.

But the main reason I had been postponing buying one is the idea of having to spend big bucks. I came across an advertisement in a daily about the ’’Akai - Home Theatre’’. Well, I thought, why not have a go at it. And guess what...I was so impressed that I bought one.

Akai Home Theatre is a mini home theatre system (HTS), it comes with 2 front speaker, 1 rear speakers, 2 side-tweeters and a woofer system. A fully control remote comes with this. This HTS can be connected to anything with a Audio Line-out socket. It can be used with Television, Audio system or a Personal Computer. The system comes in two colors white and black to match the color of Television set.

Sound Output:

The woofer has a inbuilt 1000W PMPO amplifier . I never really felt the need to go beyond the 1000W for my small living room. The sound quality is good though there is minor distortion at higher volume levels. The woofer produces good low-level frequencies (bass) and tweeters are just OK.

Convenience in Installing:

All the 5 speakers are connected centrally to the back of the woofer box. Each speaker has about 7-10 metres of connecting cables. These are sufficient to position the speakers in the corners of a mid-sized room. The users manual suggests the different positions where you can keep the speakers.

Remote Control:

The remote that comes with this HTS is very small, but is efficiently designed. Using the remote you can even fade-in and fade-out the sound from rear to front speakers. You can also control the bass-treble with the remote. The buttons are ergonomically placed on remote.

Overall Performance

I spend INR5500 for HTS and I can vouch that its the best value-for-money product. Its been more than a year and I did not face any problems with this system till now.

Though the quality is not comparable to other Home theatres like SONY, nevertheless this home theatre performs better than many others available in its price range.
