MB : Manoj Bajpai
AB : Amitabh Bachchan
Being a big fan of AB, I booked the movie tickets in advance. The late night show was housefull. The opening shots of the movie were slickly produced like a western thriller. AB as the cop in charge of the PMs security is accompanying the defence minister at Budapest who plans to give a floppy to AB regarding an assassination plot on the PM. Disguised as AB in a lookalike mask, MB kills the Defence Minister & bolts.
More killings follow since MB is a serial killer known as Raghavan in the film. The spine-chilling laugh produced by MB is revolting. On his first appearance on the screen, MB is greeted by hoots & whistles by the audience. AB pursues MB with zeal & manages to catch him & get him jailed. MB is sentenced to death by hanging. On the D-day, MB grabs a police officers revolver & shoots at AB who shoots back at MB. Both fall to the ground but AB survives.
Then follows a supernatural drama in the second half in which we find that MBs soul has entered into AB. AB gets frequent attacks of a dual personality. When he is possessed by MBs soul, he goes on a killing spree & rapes his own wife. As AB, he starts feeling depressed. Ultimately, he goes to a God man who advises him to get MBs soul out of his system on the day of the eclipse. He manages to do this & becomes free. But MBs soul goes into his brothers body who is again killed by a police officer.
As the police officer approaches the dead body, need I say more?
Raveena as MBs sweetheart is ravishing especially in the song Yeh Raat. Nandita Das does justice to her role as ABs wife. But it is Manoj Bajpai as Raghavan who steals the show along with Amitabh Bachchan as Manu Verma, the cop.
