Aksar – Not Again!!! Not Even Once…
After watching Emran Hashmi in Jawani Diwani and reading my review of the movie, my friends challenged me to go and watch Aksar. I took up the challenge and won their hearts but lost my mind in the bargain … But this time I had taken some anti-depressants that kept alive & awake throughout the much publicized “keep you interested on the edge the seat etc etc …” movie .
The Song (“Jhalak Dikhlaja”) seems to be penned down by Ananth Mahadevan himself (instead of Sameer) inviting the public to show there Jhalak in the theatres. A Desparate call by Himesh Reshamaya’s song & music (“Jhalak Dikhlaja”) that has been bombarding on all the possible channels over the past so many weeks can probably pull only the hoi polloi front benchers to show their Jhalak to the theatres. Ananth Mahadevan has finally realized that he cannot be a Yashraj do justice to such lovy-dovy Dil type movies (Dil Vil Pyar Vyar & Dill Mange More his previous movies), so he has taken the escapist route to follow the Mahesh Bhatt Text book “How to make a saleable potboiler in 35 days” formula. Leaving no stone unturned and minimizing any chances of failure he has even gone ahead by casting the same actors of the Bhatt Camps. He should pay royalty to the Bhatts for this… Imagine the Mahesh Bhatt textbook Formula is so well crafted and followed that Ananth claims to complete the movie in 35 days only (as quoted by Ananth in Asian Age Interview). Wow!!! You know how a half boiled eggs taste… if you don’t know then please go and watch this movie.
As far as the story goes as usual there is an extra marital affair between Emran (Ricky) & and Udita (Sheena). Ricky is a photographer who has to compulsorily sleep with his models to shoot them well. Good lord they only showed him shooting women!!! Sheena is an angry young woMAN who has the cheek to cut Versace into pieces and insult his status insanely happens to indulge into a marriage of convenience with Raj (Dino Morea). Raj is a stiff upper Lip, aristocratic NRI tycoon who owns a mansion in U.K. but sports the cheapest range of Ray Ban Glasses Ha! Ha!. This time the extra marital affair is planned by the husband Raj himself since he wants a reason to divorce her hence hires our Kamdev Ricky to woooo her. Sheena hates Ricky since he had cheated her best friend Nisha (Tara Sharma) but still falls for him ??? Then obviously there is Ricky’s murder and the most obvious suspense revealed. The second half of the movie reminded me of the MTV Fully Faltoo Show on MTV. There are some poorly shot love making scenes and overtly dressed Udita gyrating throughout the movie that again and again reminds the paucity of creativeness in Bollywood. At least go and watch some DVDs of English/Korean(latest from Sanjay Gupta) movies and then copy.
It seems that all the other heros have refused to kiss on the screen thus making Emran “the most wanted serial kisser” the only choice for the producers. Soon Emran will have his name registered in the Limca Book of Records. Emran, in his carreer span, is only lucky to be related to the Bhatts & be there at the right place with the right music. Udita, please let us know when are you going to stop your paapi roles… we know you want to survive in the Bollywood but not at the cost of our survival. Dino Morea appears as stiff as ever to probably get into the skin of the character. Sudesh Beri as the cop looks very bored. Music by Himesh is already high on the charts that will definitely come to some rescue. The movie is shot extensively in the U.K. that gives a good look and feel overall. The title of the movie has nothing to do with the recycled storyline. If you have already watched the music videos beamed ‘n’ number of times then there is nothing left for you to go for the movie.
