Aladdin- Our Classic Favorite!

Hello, today I would like to discuss the review about the movie Aladdin.

1) Firstly, going over the plot. I’d give it 5 stars, and would definitely give more if possible! I mean seriously when I first watched the movie in the cinemas, I could NOT get my eyes off the screen! The plot was just fantastic. One of the major plus point is how close the movie was to the original animated cartoon released in 1992. I think the producers really did a fantastic job. The fact that the genie was played by Will Smith was also a great idea.

Another major plus point concerning the plot, was the comedy point of view in the movie, in which the producers, yet again did a fabulous job. The comedic character of the genie, and Aladdin when trying to impress the princess was hilarious. I really loved how the movie progressed.

2) Secondly, if we go over the performance, which the actors gave, I would say yet ANOTHER excellent plus point for the movie. Who could’ve played a better role of the genie then Will Smith. In my opinion, the overall performance in the movie could not have been better. From the character of the evil guy- Jafar to the princess herself, it was excellent. One really excellent change that I noticed was made from the original cartoon, was the back-story of Jafar was slightly different. I really loved how the producers thought out of the box, and made a Jafar a thief back in his early days, making him quite similar in thoughts, to the main character- Aladdin. This was a realy fabulous idea, rather than making Jafar just a plain old ’villain’ character like in the cartoon.

3) Now going over the musical appearance of the movie, here’s where I was just a little bit disappointed. Now I know movies like these have a lot of music in between, but I think this is where the producers just went over-board. I’m not criticizing the music itself, I mean the songs themselves were really fantastic, from Arabian Nights to Prince Ali - Mighty is He, Ali Ababwa. This was great. What got slightly annoying was how FREQUENTLY the songs played! I mean it was like everytime a character wanted to think something, he’d just go off into a song. And a song like just ended and after two minutes- Another one! This got me thinking like "Oh no, Not another one! "

So overall the musical point of view was satisfactory, but I think the producers should’ve continued with the normal dialogues rather than throwing in a song.

To end with, I’d say, overall the movie was fabulous, excellent and really entertaining! Realy close to the original, only slight disappointment was how frequently a song would start. But, the plot and the over progreasion of the story balances it all out. Really enjoyed the movie, loved it!
