Here goes one more story of a Big Epic with High Budget but without Basics.
Epics have always been my favourite and specially after Troy(Simply Excellent), I had great expectations from Alexander, The Great
Well not talking about the things which have already been mentioned by fellow review writers, the Movie does not goes like a movie but like a documentary. I think Discovery and History channel are better at it.
Now coming to the core character of the Movie Alexander played by Colin Farrell.I personally didnt like him in the role.
The movie starts with Ptolemy (Anthony Hopkins) teaching his students, telling them the story of Alexander and his King Phillips(Van Kilmer).
Angelina Jolie has played the role of ALexander’s Mother.I am still confused what role she has played in the movie (It seems more like some vamp or sorceress).She is always seen spitting venom and her hatred feelings for the King Philips and provoking alexander to marry a macedonian and claim the throne
The Movie Depicts that Alexander wants to conquer Persia.When is just 20, He starts and goes on to conquer Egypt, Syria and then after a long battle Persia.
The he starts for india via Hindukush mountains.The Movie shows that he get defeated by one Indian King and later on Dies.Here movie contradicts with the history documented or available on internet.The Sequencing of scenes is also not good.
Overall I give it a thumbs down.
If I had been given a choice to select Alexander, my Choice would be Eric Bana.
Final Word:A Let down for Epic Lovers.
