Alibag has a nice beach.it is on the western coast of aharashtra. journey from mumbai is about 3 hrs from mumbai by road.
there is a fort in the sea which is about 1 km from the coastline.
one must visit it at the time of low tide and get back before a high tide because the way is covered by water at the time of high tide. so when to go there, one must confirm the timings of the high and low tides.
the walls of the fort are till in good condition though bearing the heavy force sea waves and heavy rainfall in monsoon.
accomodiations available here are both in private houses and lodges. lodges are comparatively costly than the private houses.
meals at the private houses are of good quality matching nearer to our house-kitchens.
it is a nice place for picnic of families and college groups.
swimming in the sea at alibag is safer than that of the other beaches like ganpatipule.
community residing here is very helpful as I experienced at my visit.
one can also get down here by ferry-boats from Bhaucha Dhakka to Kihim.
