INTRODUCTION
I just managed to watch this movie and it was great. I am not a fan of the alien series, but I saw it as I am a fan of the predator series. The two sides of horror seems to be having a joint party here as they collide here. Aliens have it teeth, claw and tail as well as the wall climbing power along with its supreme agility and senses
The predator uses its supreme weaponry which amazes every one along with its stealth and its different vison modes which helps it to detect its prey especially using the heat sensors. An intense, distinctive and downright frightening action awaits you in this movie just as what you get the game with the same name, which I think may be a main reason for the release of this movie.
THE PLOT
After some satellites finds a power source in Antartica, a billionaire industrialist Charles Bishop Weyland gathers a team of archeologists to investigate the situation. They discover a pyramid like structure there buried deep under the ice. Inside there, they are able to find a chamber with skeletons seemed to be sacrificed on a sacrifical table.
These fellows, by getting into the chamber activates it leading to the escape of a powerful alien imprisoned within it. More over, they lay their hands on some hidden weapons which belongs to the predators.
As we go long way into the story of Alien Vs Predator, we comes to know that predators taught ancient humans a lots of things including building and the humans built the pyramids for them. The predators had a ritual or may I call training as they send young, inexperienced predators into one of those pyramid like structures were they have an alien imprisoned who is set free when the Predators get in.
They have to beat the alien and also its young ones (it keeps on reproducing) and thus capture the place to prove their worth. If the three Predators send in there fails to do what is expected, they activate the self-destruction mechanism to prevent aliens from affecting the outside destroying almost everything nearby.
So this is the place where the humans have set their foot. As expected they may be regretting what they did - the mistake they made by interferring in the war between the aliens and the predators - two deadly, unforgiving creatures as the humans are keeping on getting killed one by one by one of these two species.
Those who gets killed by predators can be happy because they get killed in a few seconds instead of dying slowly and miserably in the hands of an alien. As the battle reaches its final stage, we are left with one alien, one predator and one human being. What will be the end of the battle? Who will be victorious? The advertisement says that ’’who ever wins, we lose’’, is that true? Check it out.....
GETTING CLOSER
The two species looked good and as the movie is concentrated on them, there is not much of human performance to worry about as every one managed to get frightened really well - that may be the most important thing they had to do in the movie. The aliens score more in the horror factor as the predators does not horrify much in the movie especially as they have their helmets on most of the time.
But they does score in the action area as they does them quite well as usual. Another point is that the predators earn my respect in the movie as they have a mutual respect between them and also with other species. In this movie, they didn’t seem to be much cared about collecting the trophies, I mean human skulls as they did in the Predator series.
The action scenes are very well made just like the horror factor. But as it combines factors from both the series, it seemed to be missing something, especially the predators were missing the specialist attacking style which it had in the series and wher did that hunting instinct of these born hunters disappear? Is it just temporary?
CONCLUSION
As three species including humans fight for survival, the movie offers some thrilling experience for the viewers all the way through. Seeing it one may not be enough for you.
If we see the end of the movie we can figure out that there may be a quick return of the deadly species in Alien vs Predator 2 as the movie does not have a dead end as the two of the Predator series had. In the movie, there is the possibilty of the application of the policy, ’’the enemy of our enemy is our friend’’ as there are some joint operations as you may expect.
