An aspiring singer estranged from his family in pursuit of his dream.
This movie does not deserve even a negative review lest it be talked about but rather forgotten. Half an hour into the movie and I felt so disappointed that I decided to leave during interval.
A family of four who shared similar thoughts left half an hour later. It was the WhatsApp messages that kept me occupied and I decided to endure the entire ordeal.
I had gone through a similar feeling while watching Ranbir’s – ‘Besharam’. This movie might break the record of ‘Besharam’ in the worst movie category.
Story: Mr. Bhalla(Rishi Kapoor) runs a Bakery which is not doing good business. Inder(Abhishek Bachchan), the only son of Mr. Bhalla is interested in singing and not in his father’s failing business. Supriya Pathak is Mrs. Bhalla and at the receiving end of her husband’s hot temper.
As a result of the fights at home, Inder leaves his parents and flies far away to Bangkok to fulfil his dreams. Here, Nimmi(Asin) is madly in love with Inder but their relationship does not flourish. The reason is that Inder feels insecure in life and does not want to marry.
Ten years pass by and one day he receives a call from Cheema(Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), an advocate-cum-goon calling him back to India to sign the Bakery shop documents and take his share. Already struggling financially, he returns home only to find himself landed in a trap.
His father has borrowed over Rs.20 lakhs and Cheema wants the father & son to sign the papers and let go off their property. In parallel, Asin’s marriage is arranged by her parents to an NRI from Australia and she also returns back to India but decides to be with Inder instead of going back home. Then starts a cat and mouse chase with Cheema hunting the Bhalla family till the movie ends.
Cast Performance: The cast seemed to be lost and gave an uninspiring performance. Veterans Rishi Kapoor and Supriya Pathak were helpless with the later unable to utilize her acting skills due to the Alzheimer’s character. Asin looked good but gave an average performance. Abhishek was just himself with no depth in his character. The only character that stood out in the entire movie was that of ‘Cheema’ played by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and he was very effective.
Direction: Umesh Shukla may have delivered a hit earlier with OMG due to the catchy and well researched script unlike this current product which will cast aspersions on his skills as a Director. The screenplay was lousy and the comedy scenes were ineffective. The plot was weak and horrible was its execution. The movie struggles to send out the social message that it so widely publicized.
Except for ‘Chaar Shanivaar’, ‘Baaton ko teri’ and ‘Nacchan Farrate’ I do not recollect any memorable songs.
Conclusion: Skip this movie, as you will soon find it relayed on the small screen, that too if any TV channel will be willing to bear the risk & shame of airing it. Here too I would advise not to waste your time. Rather spend your time listening to inspiring and life changing messages on YouTube. Save your time and hard earned money for something useful.
