I visited Dr. Trivikram at All Smiles Dental Clinic due to a single tooth infection. I was told the root canal treatment would cost Rs.3000. However, he failed to mention that there are_additional_ costs for each and every step of the treatment(drilling, temporary filling etc.), plus the crown. Eventually I was charged Rs. 8, 000 for the entire procedure on that single tooth.
Also, without my consent, or even notifying me, Dr. Trivikram - on his own accord - proceeded to initiate the drilling(and hence irreversible damage) of another pain-free tooth for an on-lay procedure. Again, I was not informed about the full cost of this on-lay procedure, nor was I informed about the additional costs for each step in the procedure.
I paid Rs. 4000 during the initial sittings of the on-lay procedure for the drilling/temporary filling/etc, which are_part_ of the on-lay procedure. Only at a later stage was I informed that the actual on-lay crown would be an additional Rs. 6000! When I made it clear that I was exasperated and felt duped, Dr. Trivikram did not show up anymore and delegated the remaining sittings to his junior.
These two teeth were molars on either side of my mouth. Dr. Trivikram did not have the foresight to start one procedure_after_ the completion of the other. Hence for several days, I had cratered, work-in-progress teeth on both sides of my mouth, making it painful to eat anything.
Although I started treatment with a supposed Rs.3000 worth root canal for a single tooth, Dr. Trivikram touched 2 teeth, and jacked up the total cost to a painful Rs. 18, 000.
If it matters to people, the place looks upscale. But be aware that you are paying for it.
I would be unkind if I failed to mention that the treatment itself was done well.
TL;DR: They are overpriced. Full costs are not disclosed before starting the procedure.
Discuss FULL costs before initiating the process. And stay away unless you have tens of thousands of Rupees to spare.
