Okay, okay, so I exaggerate...but they really are good.
This album’s their latest. It came out last year, and has already made a big splash at the 2000 Grammys.

Beautiful Day was the first to make it’s appearance on the music channels, atleast here, in Asia. It’s a really good song. I must admit, I didn’t like it at first. In fact, I, quite irrationally, wrote off the song, and the whole album as nothing-great, and wondered if the band should retire!!!!
But after listening to it a couple of times, you’ll love this song, it really grows on you. And no, not like a fungus!
It’s got some great moments, when the pace suddenly changes, or the crescendo suddenly rises...it doesn’t sound patchy or forced, it’s beautifully done. You’re eased throughout the whole song.
The video for the song is nothing to write home about though. I particularly hate the bit revolving around the conveyor belt, and all those couples kissing....it’s so unnecessary.
Getting back to the album...my personal favourite is New York. it’s great in every sense. Bono does this really dreamy voice in the beginning. It’s all that this album stands for---they’ve experimented with pitch and pace; the instrumentalisation is awesome; and the lyrics, great.
Makes for good listening---while driving, studying, chilling out with friends, or with a book, or just before you go to sleep. I’d suggest you give this one a try. The album’s worth picking up, even if you’re stuck in a moment you can’t get out of...
