Before you even go to this company, understand the following facts...
a) THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY TRUCKS AND SHIP EVERYTHING BY THE CHEAPEST AVAILABLE THIRD PARTY. Your goods may travel between their godowns by the same cheap transporter that you avoided for various reasons. You pay them only for their label and the local trucks they use from their godown to your house.
b) They claim that they will do the insurance for you and interact with the insurance company. This is correct - only ... they do not care how long it takes or how much you get - as long as their 100% payment was received in advance.
c) They have two different kinds of packing materials ... one is very good and they use this for corporate customers. The other is cheap and sub-standard and not fit for use.
d) They employ cheap labor from the local market for packing and unpacking. Only one Allied Lemuir will be present - wearing an Allied Lemuir T-Shirt.
I had my household goods shifted from Kolkata to Mumbai. Once the order was given, the staff were rude and callous. In fact, the packing was being so badly done that I objected. I received a rude response that they were the experts in packing and therefore I should leave the experts work to them!! I had to remain silent because my air-tickets etc were for the same evening and there was no time to change the packers.
What should have arrived in 7 days took more than 17 days and I found cracks and breaks in most furniture. The shipment was done by a cheap transporter. I claimed Rs 40K insurance and got Rs 12K after almost 6 months. All this in spite of me being careful that 100% payment would be via my company. I held back their payment till the insurance got cleared. It gives me shudders to think what would have happened otherwise.
During the phase when I was expecting the insurance, I received a returned registered letter which was supposedly sent from my address to their cheap transporter in Kolkata. Per chance the address was wrong and it got returned to the sender (my home address - when in fact I never sent the letter).
Last word: AVOID THIS TRANSPORTER. THIS IS A CHEAT THAT OWNS NO TRUCKS AND USES OTHER CHEAP TRANSPORTERS TO SHIFT THE GOODS. THIS IS A MULTINATIONAL COMPANY AND
THEREFORE YOU WILL NOT EVEN HAVE THE TIME OR ENERGY TO FOLLOW UP IF THERE IS A MISHAP LIKE IN MY CASE.
