Some recipes have thier indegrients very well mixed and look very delicious but they lack the main content-Salt. Same is the case with Aloo Chaat. Aloo Chaat isnt very good nor very bad, it is between poor to average. The film lacks its main contents-Screenplay, Script and an average direction. The film is funny and a family-pack but al last dosent lives upto our expectations.
Aloo Chaat is a story of Nikhil [Aftab Shivdasani] hails from Delhi and is visiting his family in India. His parents start showing him Punjabi girls for wedding. Knowing the temperament of his father Purshottam [Kulbhushan Kharbanda], he feels hesitant to disclose about his love affair. Hence, he approaches his fathers best friend [Manoj Pahwa], who has a great influence on his father. Together they plot to bring Nikhils girlfriend [Aamna Sharif] into the family who is a Muslim.
Aloo Chaat is just like every ordinary film but it is a letdown in plot and script. The film dosent keeps us engaged till the last moment. Their are many humorous scenes which would laugh you from the heart but thats not enough. The screenplay has been treated badly in terms of main parts whereas it is good in comedy and romance. The dialogues could be more better.
The cast does a great execution. Aftab Shivdasani again does a great job. He plays the lead role very well and shares a good chemistry between him and Aamna. Aftab takes the film some up at the stage of average.
Aamna Shariff is as nice as her TV serials. But this is not a serial, but a film. She dosent get as scope as a lead actress should be given. However, she plays her role comfortably. The supporting cast works very well. In fact, it is one of the strong points of the film.Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Manoj Pahwa are really very sensible comedians.Dolly Ahluwalia, Meenakshi, Sanjay Mishra and Chandan Anand also work wondefully.
Music is tapping and commercial album. The RDB Aloo Chaat track is eye-watching. Dhadke Jiya and others are also good. Direction of Robby Grewal could have been better. He has not taken his bests in this film. Maybe, in his next flick, we will see a good direction.
Cinematography, Choreography and Art direction are average.
*Overall
*Overall, This Aloo Chaat lacks its main indegrient-Salt(Screenplay, Direction). This film is a much much dissappointing but is picked up by the cast and music and a great eye-watching comedy. Go at your own risk but with your family. It is better to buy DVD or watch it on TV. Average!
