AltaVista offers easy to use and reliable searches. There are many great features that AltaVista offer such as the image search, audio search and the multi-media search as well as the normal web search. You are likely to find what you’re looking for due to the fact that your search will contain thousands or results. Also AltaVista is going global. Now there is an AltaVista made just for Australia.
One of my favorite features in AltaVista is the multi-media search. It is very useful if you are looking for mpegs. It is easy to use and the results are accurate and up to date. When you search, there are images you click on. The images are linked to the website that contains the file you are looking for. The website is likely to have similar files of the one you searched for. I once searched up skateboarding in the multi-media search. Although it took a while I eventually found exactly what I was looking for.
The audio search works the same way, but it is not as accurate and up to date as the multi-media search. There are fewer results in the audio section. You can easily find speeches and interviews in this section. It is very difficult to find full music (because their illegal). However, you can easily music samples, which are usually 30 seconds long.
The image search is a bit too broad. For example if you type in Sailor Moon (a popular cartoon series) you will get pictures of sailors as well as Sailor Moon. Other than that this section is quite good.
The web search is very good. They will give you many results and you are likely to find what you’re looking for.
As a search in whole I must say that there are way too many broken links. These can be extremely annoying, especially when you think you have found a good site.
To sum up, this website is good even with its few faults.
