The Amaravathi restaurant on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (aka ’IT Highway’, ’Rajiv Gandhi Road’) is situated in Karapakkam, opposite Satyam Software building and is a stone’s throw from the TCS Travel & Retail Division and Standard Chartered’s Software Solutions buildings.
There’s a Chinese restaurant on the ground floor of Amaravathi’s building, more suited for business meetings. Amaravathi dishes out authentic andhra food. This is a lunch and diner only. The restaurant is usually packed, except perhaps after 10PM when it starts winding down.
The vegetarian thali meal is sumptious, healthy and neat, priced at Rs.95, and is served at your beck and call. The chettamma dosa, served at dinner time, comes in a set of three, stored hot in a hotbox and with fresh peanut chutney -filling and pleasant on the palate. The curd rice is just as good. A remarkable facet of the restaurant is the clean walls and even clearer mirrors. Beautiful glass-work bulb cases makes for a bright yet soft ambience.
