Amavas Movie Review

Amavas fails at horror and feels like a comedy

Amavas is a movie that has the same old plotline and a bad performance.

The lead actors of the film are Sachin Joshi, Nargis Fakhri, Mona Singh and Ali Asgar.

Amavas is the story of a couple who decides to go on vacation to the man’s summer house, which has been abandoned for a long time, but they are met with dark forces that turn their life into a nightmare. Ahana is shown to be an agnostic and her boyfriend is reluctant to go in the castle which indicates that something untoward has happened in there, but then they still decide to go there!

When the lead pair of a film lack chemistry and they try hard to act like a couple who is in love, it is difficult to watch. The dialogues of the movie also don’t leave an impact and the chairs rocking on their own, creaking doors, ghosts watching you in your sleep make you laugh instead of scared.

The first half of the movie has some horrible scenes that include Ahana played by Fakhri acting like a grown-up child and runs in the woods telling Karan, played by Joshi, to catch her. The second half of the movie gets better. The reason why Karan behaves in an odd manner is revealed in a way that it becomes tiresome to watch. Mona Singh does a good job as Karan’s psychiatrist.

Although the special effects are good in the movie, there is a repeat of the same kind of effects and it gets boring to watch after a point.

Overall, Amavas is a film that you should give a miss.
