Like 90% of my friends, I use Amazon on a regular basis especially at Xmas as it cuts out all the legwork for shopping. But on one occasion, I was checking my my bank statement for another transaction query when I came across the £70 Amazon Prime debit payment from a couple of months before.
When those charges sit among the many other payments for purchases made from Amazon, it was not obvious but I decided to take the time to check it out. I was horrified to realise that I had been duped into ticking a box signing up to Amazon Prime as a reward to receive a free express delivery.
I realise as the consumer I should have checked the terms and conditions but Amazon knows their customer base who lead busy lives, precisely why they use their site. I immediately contacted Amazon and can report that they refunded my payment without query but I wonder how many other customers realise they have signed up to this without noticing. In my opinion it’s a scam.I just cant imagine my life without Amazon. Thank you for being there! Great company with outstanding customer focused and care!
