The biggest online retailer has finally come to India, and it is already taking this country by storm. With its unbeatable prices and cut-throat business strategy, Amazon has already started to take out a big chunk of the Indian retail business, although it has only been a few years since it has started its business operations in India. So, I decided to test out the website and see what the fuss is all about.
First of all, I have to talk about the friendly user interface of Amazon. The site is very easy to use, and after spending only a couple of minutes on the site, you will get a general idea of how to navigate through the website. The deals are, to say the least, and really tempted me to buy even the items which I had no desire to purchase. So, it’s safe to say that their marketing strategy is working well. The search bar gives pretty accurate results of what you are looking for, and the user ratings are big to gauge the quality of the product.
Now focusing on the drawbacks of Amazon, most of the product descriptions are small or missing in some cases. The payment options are not flexible as well, and most products don’t offer installments although Amazon advertises the monthly payment feature heavily on its website. In some rare cases, the product page also prevented me to post a review about it, which I found to be a very distasteful experience. Their express shipping charges you extra money but still fails to deliver the product quickly. The customer service of Amazon also needs to improve as they were awfully slow to deal with my complaints.
Final Verdict: Amazon is still very new in India. It needs to show a lot of improvement to gain the trust of its consumers, but I feel if it tweaks some of its features and listens to the feedback from its customers, it can quickly overcome most of the drawbacks that it faces currently.
