I used to be the proud owner of an Amex Gold card.  I was very prompt in payments, and had a good record.  One day, I was asked to clear all my dues suddenly.  I did so immediately and they said they would send me a new card.  I did not get one, and when I asked, they said they had canceled the card.   They never offered any reason.  All my calls to their call center were ambiguous.  Once, someone would say my card stood canceled, but wondered why, when I had such a good record.


And sometimes, a person would get angry and say they need not give any reason for canceling my card.  All in all, I got the feeling that something wrong had been fed into my record.  They never have still clarified it.


I even applied for a Business Card, but even that was not processed, nor was a reply given as to why.


This is funny. I travel to the US often, and I would have loved to use this card.  Now, all I want to know is why they canceled my card.  There must be a good reason.
