Best movie in recent times

I went in to watch this movie at 1030 in the night because I had nothing else to see. I had a tiring day and I expected to fall asleep, if not in the first half then atleast in the second half. But Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe surprised me by giving one of their best performances which I have seen from them. The movie is based on the true story of Frank Lucas  (played by Denzel) and Richie Roberts  (played by Russell).

Frank is a man brought up in the 1960’s Harlem and he follows his mentor’s policy of buying things straight from the source and selling them at half price by cutting out the middle men. But for Frank the things turn out to be drugs. He buys them from Vietnam and sells them at half the prices in America. He calls his stuff, "Blue Magic". Suddenly Blue Magic is everywhere. Richie is a cop who believes in being honest in his professional life and promiscuous in his personal one. He is given the task of bringing down this new drug mafia.

A worthy battle of wits and guts follows with the second half being tightly directed. The action is smooth and the dialogues witty. The performances by the actors is top notch.

Worth the 200 bucks I shelled out for tickets!!
