The subliminal mind fu*k america
There are albums and there are albums.. but once in a while comes an album which you just cant stop listening..
STATUTORY WARNING : Plz do not listen to this album if you have exams next moth. its highly addictive!
Green Day needs no introduction.... recently won song of the year for Boulevard of Broken Dreams
There are 11 tracks on the album
1.American Idiot : this one needs no introduction .. does it? this one got into a lot of controverises due to the attack on the American Government.. a vary fast paced track... this track is my second favourite track on the album.. the lyrics are a bit over the top but the drum beats and the guitar.. cant ask for anything more than this .. american idiot is the the track of the album when it comes to listening
2. Jesus of Suburbia : A track which I prefer to call a pass affaire. Somewhat of a okey dokey start to the album.. but the drum beats as reminiscent to all Green Day tracks make this one a listenable track... Armstrongs voice is the real saviour of the track... But dont be scared.. the hits have just started baby!
Lyrics are ok..This is one long track... (9 minutes)
I know people will contradict but this one seems have a little bit of Summer of 69s music and guitar beats in the middle of the song
The song is all about the common mans life.. the suburban life of a man..
3.Holiday This is the song of the wars.. An attack on the U.S. attacks to sum it all up.. this song is the stroy of the soldiers killed .. this is the song of their life.. their perils and their joy.. all summed up in the way only green day.. for those who have heard Boulevard will think that Green Day is soft rock stuff... this will surely make them think again .. this is Green Day.. heavy bass and lots of drums.. lots of drums..
4.Boulevard of Broken Dreams . Hey Hey Hey.. this is mine favorite on the track.. the most critically aclaimed track of 2005 this won The Grammy for the Song of the year . this may sound to the keen listener as bit of a romantic affair but think agian.. its not a romantic affair.. the most challenging song of the album lyrics wise.. Ten on Ten.. the only way to describe this track..
5.Are we the waiting This tracks pretty short.. only 3 minutes.. the lyrics are about the the fear of a lost city...a city burnt down with insecurity ... a city shot down.. its about the fear of death are we the waiting I wont say this is a bad track but its certainly not the highlight of the album as well.. its what you would call as a passable track.. listen to it for only armstrong..
6.St.Jimmy The weakest track on the album .. this one is highly avoidable.. believe me just avoid St.Jimmy.. its one of those rare Green Day which just fall straight on their face.. a track which is best avoided.. St.Jimy is the life story of a certain St.Jimmy rolled with drums and guitar....
7.Give me Novacaine People have called it the song of the track... well .. you just cant pin down Green Day can you? Well after the headache St.Jimmy comes the rescuer.. give me novacaine.. This is the best song of the track as far as quality of singing goes... Give Me novacaine is the Billys answer to all those who had written off Green Day ... he still proves that he is the man when it comes to slow rock n stuff. I jus love this man.. just seen holidays video and yeah you guessed it rocks...
8.Shes a Rebel : This is a skit.. a TWO minute song.. the guitar is no hendrix stuff but then its not that all bad either.. its a song which utterly confuses me.. youre left with the feelin what does this song want to convey well you can give this a miss for sure... well its another st.jimmys
9.Extraordinary Girl ~ Well it starts as if its got some tabla beats .. the music in the start of the song is pretty long goes for about a minute ... now you must be thinking why armstrong has picked up girls as a topic all of a sudden.. first shes a rebel and now extra ordinary... this is just a passable song.. but the high point is surely the guitar ... its kind of that neo age stuff with lots of foot tappin and head banging beats.. well you can say that its just OK... ill give it a 5/10 rating anyways...
10.Letterbomb ~ Inspite sounding a lot like American Idiot I kinda really like this song fot the the way it hits off .straight from the word go.. armstrongs vocals are just great.. I must confess that the albums kinda slacks off at the end with tracks like shes a rebel and extraordinary girl... letter bomb is yet again all about destruction with dream beats ... they try to sound like RHCP in this one. well that good news I guess..
11.Wake Me Up When September Ends ~ this is the song of the album for me ... it has that slow rock vintage feeling to it that makes you fall in love with it the moment you hear it... armstrongs the backbone of the song as usual.. great lyrics .. a past seeker of sorts.. ill stick my neck out and say this Wake Me up... is the song of the album its sounds a bit like U2s sometines u cant make it in the beginning... now need I say anymore?
12.Homecoming Another epic after the Jesus of Suburbia ..this one is not as good Jesus ... infact its even better.. this is a 9 minute song .. so no easy listening here.. the song has one major default~ the https://lyrics.. by now Green Day are seeming to be repetitive... the war , the destruction and yes. you guessed it St.Jimmy(who is st.jimmy?)
13.Whatsername~ its a perfect song to end a great album.. well a desperate attempt to appear as if someones absence doesnt affectyou anymore... a nice song to remember a broken heart.. well getting on with the song I really find it the most well written down song of the album.. armstongs decides to call her Whatsername.. well keep guessin who is your whatername in life.. heres hoping that you dont have any whatsername in life..
The Point
The album is to be plainly bought due to these ones..
American Idiot , boulevard , wake me up , letterbomb and obviously whatsername!!
Now some of you may say why have I gone ga ga over an album where only half of the songs are worth a mention.. well the reason is simple Billy Armstrong
