I got this book because it seemed like everyone was reading it. Having never read Roth’s work, I was unfamiliar with his writing style. I have to say that it took me some time to get used to it. I felt like it was too late for my liking, so on several occasions, I wanted to give up. But I’m glad I did my best and did my best in the end. Most of the time I fall in love with a book instantly, but this one took a while. Overall, it’s an extraordinary tale of love and a fallen idol - beautifully written, shocking and deeply moving.
