Amitabh Bachchan must be just about the most infuriating person to interview. Peel off one veneer and there’s another right beneath. Coax, cajole, humour or provoke to kingdom come but the lanky legend rarely lets his mask slip.
Nor does that famous from-the-soul voice rise a decibel. Obviously the anger he incarnates on screen isn’t allowed off it. Ask a personal question and an iron curtain comes up. Bachchan would certainly be a biographer’s nightmare.
