Mismanagement Business School

I visited ABS on april 12 for GD/PI of the admission process for MBA. The behavior of the staff and the overall mismanagement of the event took not only me, but almost all candidates who I talked to by surprise. It was shocking to see the rude behavior of everyone I spoke to. I did not expect such rudeness from the staff an institution that prides itself for its quality of education.

While I don’t remember the name of the lady who gave the presentation to the 250 odd candidates, I am also sure that nobody among the candidates remember her name. Why? Because all that she was saying was crap. Whatever she showed in her presentation was already available in the prospectus of Amity or on the remarkably well maintained website. There was nothing new in whatever she said till the point where she talked about the placement opportunities of MBA candidates. We had wasted a precious 1 hour by then. There were parents of many students sitting there and I could see them dozing off during that presentation. Instead of making us sleep, it would have been better to start off the admission process right away.

The GD was another issue. Board 3 group A was made to wait for over an hour before their GD could start. Anxious candidates when asked people at Amity the cause of the delay, they were given curt replies that the GD will start when the faculty is available. Excuse me? Why is the faculty not in a state of readiness when there are candidates ready to be assessed? Even when the GD began, we were made to sit in a line(not even facing each other). How do u expect us to have a group discussion if we don’t even face each other? The people in the adjoining room were having a heated debate in their GD and it clearly affected our performance. Such shoddy arrangements were never to be expected at Amity.

In the interview panel, Mr. Chandok spoke so arrogantly and without any respect for the candidate sitting across the table that it felt like I am having a petty fight with a rickshaw driver. It seems Mr. Chandok should be the first one to be trained in corporate culture and then asked to be interviewed at TCS. He will know where he is lacking.

To sum it all up, I would say in crude Hindi that Amity is a place of suit boot mein gawaar people. I am a Delhiite and I know how to behave properly in a demanding situation. But my experience at Amity was a rude reminder to me that I am not in Delhi, rather in a backward area of UP.

I don’t expect to be selected but even if I am selected I will NOT join this institution. A place which treats prospective candidates as animals is not worth me. We are going to bring them business, we will pay them money in the form of whatever fee they charge us and I know that as a management institution, MBA is a money spinner program for them. Give the candidate the respect that he/she deserves so that he will recommend it to others. But it seems that they are not willing to show even this small courtesy to their guests.
