Amityville Horror fact or fiction?

Happy Halloween 2002! All right MS members, are you up to one of my famous but yet spooky horror reviews? I want to warn you ahead of time that this review is based upon factual stuff. The book review I’m about to write about is not false; instead the house, the families and the city are real. What happens in this house will amaze you, but it’s up to you to decide if you think demons and Satan had anything to do with the horror that went on inside those locked doors at night.

Amityville Horror Author: Jay Anson In 1974 William Defoe JR killed his inter family on a cold winter night at 3:15am. William was convicted of 6 counts of murder. The murders included his parents, his two brothers and two sisters. This all took place in NY in what is considered a small town of Amityville. When the public is aware of the murders they can’t understand what happened to William, he claims that he was given a shotgun by some sort of demon and was told to murder his family. He of course is in prison now and just recently in 1999 he went up for parole, but was turned down. Now he is saying that he wasn’t the killer that he was down stairs getting high while the real killers were upstairs murdering his family. A year and a month later the house goes up for sale. A new family has arrived and decided they wanted to buy this house. The house was their dream come true, it had everything they were looking for. After they fell in love with the house the realtor told them the story behind the house. This didn’t matter the family wasn’t superstitious and they went ahead with the house. The whole time I’m reading this book and trying to not be afraid I kept remembering that this was based upon a true story. This makes the book even more horrific. The same day the family moves into the house they get the house blessed, just to make things safer they thought. The priest went around the house saying a blessing and throwing holly water in each room. When he comes across the sewing room he noticed that this room was rather cold, then he heard a voice from behind him telling him to get out. Then all of a sudden he felt what he calls a slap across his face. He told the family what happened and told them to stay away from this room that he wasn’t sure about it. What happens in 28 days to this family is amazing; I don’t think I would have stayed as long as they did. Here are a few things that happened to the family during this time.

First the father had a real obsession with heat and burning a fire all the time. He wasn’t able to keep warm and he made sure there was always firewood available. The mother kept awaking at 3:15am every morning with nightmares of the murders. She said that she knew were the other mother was killed at and she felt the bullets enter her own body as she lay in the bed. She even was able to tell who was killed first. Man that would scare the heck out of me enough to move already how about you? Then the little girl named Missy (Now that is freaky! When I read that name in the book I was like no way!) She told her mom that she had a friend, but no one else could see this friend She told her parents that the friend looked like a pig, and sometimes it was invisible and other times it wasn’t. She also said this friend would talk to her; at first the parents don’t believe her until they witness it for themselves. One night the father walked past his daughters room and she was reading a book on the bed and the rocking chair a few feet from her was going back and forth and no one was in it. The one night the father said he was coming home late and he seen these red eyes looking down from his daughters bedroom and he rushed up and there was nothing in the room. (Spooky huh?) If I seen red eyes in a window I would leave!

Conclusion I will stop right there because there is so much more that goes on inside this house, but I don’t want to give away all the juicy yet scary details in the review. I want you to go and buy the book and read it for yourself. The book was also made into a movie called Amityville Horror, I also seen the movie. When you read the final night that the family stays at this home you will not believe the horror they went through and seen. The author was fantastic, he got his material from the family cause once they moved out of the house the family made sure they tapped all that they knew so they didn’t forget anything. It wont take you long to read this book why? Because it’s so scary and so full of suspense that you can’t wait to turn the page and read what happened next to the family. I was drawn right in to the book, the author done his job rather well. I’m getting goose bumps right now as I’m writing the review cause if this was true (as they claim it all is) then I sure don’t want to visit this town! It is also known that anyone who lived in the house after this family has not seen or heard anything since then.

So read the book and you judge if you think this could of really happened because of demons or did they make this up because they knew about the history of the house and the killings that really happened that one dreadful cold night in November? Tell me if you think it was a hoax or fact
