Well speaking about myself iv actually been an average student my entire life.i just graduated from 0 and 12th percentage wer 70%(both icse).After 12 I got a seat in amrita school of engineering, bangalore through enterance.Amrita cgpa(6.38/10).Iv got quite a few friends studying in amrita coimbatore and also many other colleges here in bangalore.
First let me sum up the good points first:-
(1.)chances of learning and achieving something great here are bright provided u put in a lot of hard work and dedication
(2)knowledgable staff
(3)Good lab facilitiles
(4.)placements are good provided u are elligible by 4th year
So ya u might be wondering everything is good.
But let me speak about the cons:-
(1.)very tough syllabus-the syllabus and exams are quite hard and vast, so there are a lot of chances of flunking subjects and getting year back and getting good cgpa is also tough
(2.)nothing much of extracurricular activities-coimbatore is good, bangalore not so much
(3.)FALSE CLAIMS ABOUT PLACEMENTS-this is the biggest thing.yes there are lot of companies which come to the college and college usually claims a placement percentage of 96% and above.this is not the exact picture.The no of students who attend placements are actually less.im my batch it was some 330 people out of 550 for mass recruiters and most companies.the rest either have backs or hav less cgpa.so from the no u can just see the fact I spoke bout syllabus
(4.)very strict rules.there are rules for liteally everything.my school was a lot less stricter than col.and ya u don learn any good values
.(5.)TOO costly hostel, mess and fee together put comes somewher near 1.8L now.(2012 batch)
f u want to consider takin up engineering here u need to prepare urself for 4 years of hardship.Many drop out halfway here cos of academics or rules.So ppl tell it is a good college.But my feeling is that the college is more lik the imperial college in 3 idiots..too many rules, no much freedom and ya u want enjoy ur college here.
So the golden question "WOULD I RECOOMEND U TO JOIN AMRITA".?.read the pros and cons.If ur ok with the cons, this is a very good place to study.And ya try amrita coimbatore, there more studies and research there.Bangalore or amritapuri if u don have a choice..And ya most important thing be prepared to work hard.Ul surely reap rewards here.Whom so ever is reading this all the best for ur life..
