As soon as I hear the name of Amritsar what comes to mind is the image of the GOLDEN TEMPLE regionally known as darbar sahib .
HOTELSmy trip to amritsar started at night, finding a hotel . there are a no. of hotels to choose my family went for not a very expensive yet a good hotel . so I would give a thumbs up for hotels .
FOODi have heard all my life that amritsar has cheap and amazingly finger licking food . but here I would disagree with people . what my experience says is that neither the food is tasty nor cheap . actually the dinner was so bad hat the next morning my throat was not in a condition to speak . so no thumbs up for food .also there is no ice cream available .
TRANSPORTthe next morning we had to go to golden temple and let me tell u that there are ample of autos and rickshaws and also tanghas to travel on . anyways we chose auto and unlike delhi the auto there is 13 seater so the family could travel together .
CROWDamritsar is too crowded and travelling there is really chaotic .the roads and lanes are not in a very good condition .
markets are good and cheap .
wagha border actually disappointed me . the ceremony is enjoyed only by the people sitting in front . there is lack of management .
overall amritsar is worth travelling but when short families visit and not big groups .
