Amsterdam-Ian McEwan

It isn’t the lesson plans that I read, but this is what goodred posted. Thoroughly British with black humor, Amsterdam isn’t exactly what I was expecting. With the exception of the last few pages, the story takes place in London. Both vernon, the newspaper editor, and clive, the composer/musician, are completely self obsessed with few redeeming qualities.

Although Molly died far too young, her death pushes Clive and Vernon to agree to a pact that turns out to be devastling. The writing is spuerb and memorable, but the story somehow leaves me feeling a bit depressed.
